At one point, I owned and used about 10 separate cameras. The ever evolving technological advances spanning the last 200 years have milestones that can't be missed. Nostalgia for the of times of craft and invention had me forgetting about cholera and tuberculosis and I imagined myself as a nouveaux Victorian poet for longer than was necessary to get the vibe. Whatever the inspiration for this obsession, it brought an array of attempts at finding the artistry with what is more a documentarian's tool. My pursuits produced an eclectic project base with varied motivation. I've included examples of what I still have - I once filled a Digital Camera box with all my negatives, some decorative nails and as much dust as I could stand to sully them all with the advent of the digital era. I left this box in a gallery covered in cryptic "poetry" about the nature of performance, expression, and authenticity. What a wild time in my life. A month later I was on the front page of the Oakland Tribune.
